Star Portrait-Tapsee


Taapsee Pannu who is known as Tapsi is a South Indian film actress who has appeared in Tamil and Telugu and Kannada films. She was born on the 1st of August, 1987 to a Punjabi Sikh background from the city of Ludhiana, Punjab. She pursued her education from the well known Mata Jai Kaur Public School situated in Delhi. Following this, she graduated in the field of computer science from the prestigious Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology situated in New Delhi and soon after obtaining her graduation degree she started working in the domain of software development. One of her contributions in the field of software development was an application made for iPhone by the name of ‘fontswap’.

Appearing in several commercials, Taapsee also won Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face and Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin, during her modelling days. She started modelling before becoming an actress. She got the opportunity to showcase her modelling skills in the talent show hosted by Channel [V] called ‘Get Gorgeous’. During the time she had been modelling, Taapsee Pannu appeared in various television advertisements and at the Femina Miss India contest in 2008, she had also been bestowed with many titles such as ‘Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face’ title as well as the ‘Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin’ title.

Apart from advertisements, Taapsee Pannu had also made her place on the front cover pages of magazines like MaaStars and Just For Women. She had this eagerness within her to gain recognition and proper merit through modelling, which was not happening much then. Soon enough, she gave up modelling and decided to go for films. Tapasee Pannu with her looks and bubbly attitude stole the hearts of many through her dance performances, during her college days.

Film Career 

Tapasee was first spotted by Director Vetrimaran, opposite to actor Dhanush in his movie “Aadukalam” but her debut with   a Tollywood film ‘JhummandiNaadam’, a romantic musical directed by K.Raghavendra Rao and starring Taapsee Pannu along with Manoj Manchu, Suman and Mohan Babu. Even before this film got released, Taapsee got another three offers in the Telugu film industry. Her very first Tamil film was a film called ‘Aadukalam’, directed by Vetrimaran. Here, she enacted the character of an Anglo Indian girl who falls in love with Dhanush. At the 58th National Film Award ceremony, this film went on to grab 6 National Film Awards and Taapsee Pannu’s performance in the film was highly appreciated by all.

In the year 2011, she shared the screen space with Vishnu Manchu in the Telegu film “VastaduNaaRaju” directed by Hemanth Madhukar. Next up, she starred in the Sohan Seenulal directed Malayalam film called “Doubles in 2011. That same year, she did a small role in the Dasaradh directed “Mr. Perfect” where he starred alongside Kajal Aggarwal and Prabhas. Again in 2011, she appeared in the high budget flick “Veera’” directed by Ramesh Verma but this film received only moderate reviews. Her next project was the Tamil film titled “VandhaanVendraan” directed by R. Kannan. This film did not create much of an impact at the box office. After ‘VandhaanVendraan’, she signed up for the Krishna Vamsi directed “Mogudu” opposite Gopichand in which she received lots of appreciation for her performance in this film.

Her next film is a bilingual flick which is titled in Telugu as “GundelloGodari” and Tamil as "MaranthenMannithen” the film didn’t received good response at the box office. She made her Bollywood debut through “Chashme Baddoor” where she shares the screen with Siddharth and Rishi Kapoor. The film is a remake of the 1981 film with the same title. But the film bombarded at box office and she received negative response for her role by critics. Her recent release with Victory Venkatesh “Shadow” was also added one more flop in Taapsee career. Currently she is working for Telugu film “Sahasam” which salted to release soon and Tamil film “Valai”.  She also signed a biligula films “Muni 3” which would be a sequel of “Muni” this film will release Telugu and Tamil and shooting will start soon.

Daggubati Venkatesh who made is surname as Victory and he is popular actor in Tollywood well known as Victory Venkatesh or Venky. He is the son of Telugu veteran producer D. Rama Naidu. Venkatesh was born on December 13th 1960 to Dr. D. Ramanaidu and Rajeshwari in Karamchedu, a village in Prakasam District. He has an elder brother, D. Suresh Babu, who runs Suresh Productions, and a younger sister, Lakshmi. Venkatesh did his schooling in Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai. He graduated with Bachelors in Commerce from Loyola College in Chennai. Venkatesh graduated with an MBA degree from Monterey Institute of International Studies, USA. After his return to India, he wanted to get into production. He became an actor in Telugu films. His father, D. Rama Naidu and his brother D.Suresh Babu successfully runs one of the most prestigious banners in Telugu Cinema, Suresh Productions. He is married to Neeraja and has a son Arjun Ramnath and three daughters, Ashritha, Hayavahini and Bhavana. His sister, Lakshmi was previously married to rival actor, Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Film Journey

Venkatesh debuted into films through “Kaliyuga Pandavulu” in the year 1986. The movie was not only a hit but also got him his first Nandi award, which is a rare accomplishment for an actor who has just completed his debut film. At an early phase of his career, Venkatesh got to work with a great classical director Viswanath. Just two years old as an actor, Venkatesh acted in “Swarnakamalam” which was directed by Viswanath. The movie got him his second Nandi. “Varasudochadu” which was released in the same year, was another trophy. After a few flops, he got a break in the form of “Bobbili Raja”. Added to the name and performance of Venkatesh was delightful Divya Bharati, good comedy and melodious music. “Bobbili Raja” was a musical hit and also entertained audience from all sections because of its ingredients. In “Shathruvu”, Venkatesh played angry young lawyer who takes law into his hands after failing to fight the corruption through the court. Venkatesh has also worked with ace director Ram Gopal Varma for a Hindi film “Kshana Kshanam”, although it was not a success at the box office. “Chanti”, a remake of Tamil movie “Chinna Tambi”, happened in 1991. “Chanti” was definitely a challenging project for Venkatesh. “Chanti” was a box office hit and Venkatesh's career benefitted hugely by it. Starting with “Chanti”, he went for continuous remakes - that got him branded as a remake actor. “Anari” was the remake of “Chanti” in Bollywood's Hindi cinema. Venkatesh started becoming a family hero and turned out a huge fan following among women. In 2009, he teamed up with his friend Kamal Haasan for “Eeenadu”, which was released in September 2009. Venkatesh has acted in a lot of blockbusters. His films, Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule and Tulasi are big hits. He is very aggressive in the work. Also he is known to be very down to earth and spiritual person. His recent multi starrer film with Mahesh Babu “Seethama Vakitlo Sirimallachettu” was created sensation at box office collections. After “SVSC” he came as sole action hero with “Shawdow” under Meher Ramesh direction but it was added one more flop in Venkatesh film career.
